Our History

Thank you very much for taking the time to familiarise yourself with our Dublin English School history to date. As Director of Active Language Learning (ALL) it gives me great pleasure to introduce you from our humble beginnings to the successful launch of our all year round facility.

Celebrating our 25th year as Active Language (Formerly Monkstown Park Language & Activity Centre) but operating with over a 40 year combined experience in the EFL and indeed the tourist sector. I founded the company in 1989 after working in the TEFL sector for 10 years with another organisation.

Our Marketing Director , Kieron Mahon studied Hotel Management with The Savoy Group in London from 1984 to 1990 when he returned to Dublin. Kieron now also holds a Degree in English and is a fully qualified TEFL teacher as well.

Brian Mahon, Financial Controller, is a qualified accountant and has been part of the company from its inception.

Our logistics and IT overseer is Fergus Mahon who completes the family team.

Our former years were based on summer junior markets only with schools throughout Ireland operating for the months of June, July and August. Gradually we stretched our junior market to include the academic year as well with school groups coming from September to June. We are now one of Ireland’s leaders in this field with a far reaching reputation throughout Europe.

Adult all Year Round School

In 2005 we open our all year round school in the very heart of Dun Laoghaire and we are very proud with its success to date. Students from all over the non English speaking world have experienced ALL and all we have to offer as a quality destination for the following reasons:
As a family run business we are dedicated to all students and teachers and offer quality English Language Programmes with the highest academic standards.
As a family school we appreciate students cultural needs with regard to accommodation and the overall design of a linguistic programme.
Because we are a family run organisation we can offer all our students a warm and friendly welcome both in school and indeed from their carefully chosen host families.

Junior Intensive Study Week and Summer Camp Programmes

Our junior summer courses are now eclipsed by our successful winter study groups from September to June.
Our before and after care has heightened the overall success of our courses and is evident with our return business to date.
In conclusion I would like to guarantee you that we, as a family, will do everything possible to ensure successful and memorable programmes for you or your groups throughout your stay.

Kay Mahon

Director
