Language Summer Camp
English Language & Activity
COURSE CONTENT
Students are assessed on their level of English on their first day and placed in a class according to their level. In class students will improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Each afternoon a great variety of sporting activities, computers and arts & crafts are available as well as an extensive range of cultural and social activities which bring together local and foreign students in an international atmosphere.
Students follow a course book that has been specially selected to be appropriate to the interests of teenage learners. The rotation of 3 teachers means students are exposed to a variety of teaching styles while enjoying the continuity a course book provides. Lessons cover all the skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) as well as reviewing and practising grammar and extending vocabulary. All of this is done using the Communicative Language Teaching methodology to ensure students have the chance to use their English in oral and written communication tasks.
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT
Such as discos, ceilis, barbecues, karaoke, quiz night, concert etc. are available three times a week.
IRISH INTEGRATION PROGRAMME
Irish integration programme is very much part of the junior summer school ethos. Local Irish (English speaking) teenagers aged 12 to 16 come to study French, German or Spanish which ensures a truly international course. All nationalities take part together in all activities, excursions and evening programmes where English is the common language at all times.
